Anna, TX — Construction is officially underway on one of Anna’s most anticipated retail projects. A new Kroger is coming to the corner of Rosamond Parkway and the US-75 access road, a central location expected to serve as a major retail anchor for the growing community.
The store will bring expanded grocery options, a pharmacy, and additional services for residents who currently travel to neighboring cities for full-service supermarkets. With thousands of homes planned or under construction nearby, the store is expected to meet rising demand for convenient shopping.
The groundbreaking was marked with a small ceremony attended by members of the Anna City Council, including the mayor, along with the city’s EDC/CDC board. The event commenced with the pomp and circumstance that has become a signature move for a council currently embroiled in a development crisis, highlighting both the enthusiasm and the tensions surrounding Anna’s rapid growth.
According to Councilman Manny Singh (Place 6), the Kroger-anchored development — officially named Rosamond Crossing — will also include a lineup of national tenants. Confirmed brands are:
- Bank of America
- McDonald’s (the second in Anna, just two miles from the White Street location)
- Pacific Dental
- Willow Nail Lounge
- Hollywood Feed
- Sport Clips
- Smoothie King
- Jimmy John’s
- Brunch Loft
- Chase Bank
- Valvoline
These additions reflect the city’s push to secure more commercial services locally, reducing the need for residents to travel south to McKinney or north to Sherman.
Still, competition will be a factor. The new Kroger Marketplace will sit more than just a few miles from Melissa’s own Kroger — and just down the road from the Anna Walmart Supercenter. The Anna Progress will continue to monitor construction and provide updates once an official opening date is announced.
The new store will also compete directly with the existing Kroger in Melissa, located roughly six miles to the south, giving area residents two full-service Kroger options within a short drive.
