Frisco, TX — One week after a tough rivalry loss to Melissa, the Anna Coyotes bounced back in emphatic fashion Thursday night, rolling past Frisco Independence 63–6 at David Kuykendall Stadium.

Despite the short week and less rest for both teams, Anna showed no signs of wear, controlling the game from start to finish in a convincing district victory.

The win moves the Coyotes to 4–1 overall and 2–1 in district play, while Independence falls to 0–6 (0–3) and has now been outscored 291–76 this season.

First-Quarter Onslaught

Anna wasted no time putting the game out of reach. Quarterback Ziondre Williams opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown strike to Ace Traylor, then added another short TD pass before running back Pharell Brown blasted in from 14 yards.

The Coyotes led 21–0 after just one quarter, dominating both sides of the ball.

Explosive Second Quarter

Williams stayed hot in the air, finding Jaden Parker, Carter Merritt, and Michael Kennedy for touchdowns, while Brown broke away for an 80-yard rushing TD.

At halftime, Anna had stormed to a 49–0 lead, leaving no doubt about the outcome.

Defensive Domination

The Coyotes’ defense overwhelmed the Knights, forcing repeated punts and suffocating drives before they could cross midfield. Cash Williams tallied a sack, and Independence failed to threaten until the final minutes.

Finishing Strong

Brown added his third rushing touchdown early in the fourth, and backup QB Tristan Nylander delivered a 31-yard touchdown strike to Thatcher Kring, extending the lead to 63–0.

Independence finally scored in the final minute on a short pass, but the missed PAT sealed the 63–6 final.

What’s Next?

Anna’s dominant rebound keeps them firmly in the thick of the playoff race. The Coyotes, now ranked No. 30 in Texas following last week’s loss to Melissa, will look to build on Friday’s momentum when they return home to face Frisco Emerson on Friday, October 10th at Coyote Stadium.

This showdown will be a pivotal test in what many have dubbed the “District of Doom” — one of the most competitive landscapes in all of 5A Division II football. With perennial contenders like Melissa, Lovejoy, and Frisco Emerson all packed into the same bracket, every week feels like playoff football in September and October.

For Anna, the rebound win over Independence was about more than just getting back in the win column — it was about restoring momentum, confidence, and proving that one loss won’t derail their championship aspirations. Ranked No. 30 in Texas, the Coyotes remain firmly in the playoff hunt, but the margin for error is razor-thin.

The matchup against Frisco Emerson on October 10th at Coyote Stadium will serve as a measuring stick for both programs. Emerson, still a young program in just its fourth season, has already built a reputation for postseason consistency and for knocking off top-tier opponents, including Melissa a year ago. Anna, meanwhile, defeated Emerson last year in a 44–31 statement win and will look to defend home turf once again.

With two explosive offenses and hard-hitting defenses set to collide, fans can expect another high-intensity battle that could help shape playoff seeding down the stretch. In a district where powerhouses regularly beat up on one another, every edge counts — and Anna has the chance to show they’re still one of the most dangerous teams in the state.
