Anna, TX — After last week’s heartbreaking collapse against Prosper Walnut Grove, the Anna Coyotes didn’t flinch — they responded. Moved up to Thursday night due to forecasted rainfall, the matchup against Denison became the perfect stage for redemption. And the Coyotes delivered, cruising to a decisive 49–17 victory to move to 6–2 overall and 4–2 in district play, sitting solidly in third place with two favorable games ahead.

Fast Start, Fierce Defense

From the opening kickoff, Anna looked determined to erase any lingering doubts from last week.

Linebacker Ryan Tsutsumi jump-started the night by recovering a Denison fumble deep in Yellow Jacket territory. Moments later, quarterback Ziondre Williams found Ace Traylor for a short touchdown strike — and the tone was set.

On Denison’s next drive, chaos turned into celebration. Defensive lineman Dre Young read the quarterback perfectly, snagging an interception and taking it 83 yards to the end zone. Just minutes in, the Coyotes led 14–0 and never looked back.

Williams Leads the Charge

The offense ran through quarterback Ziondre Williams, who looked every bit the leader Anna needed him to be. He threw three touchdown passes — two to Traylor and one to Brayden Spinks — and added two rushing scores of his own, finishing with five total touchdowns on the night.

Behind a balanced attack and strong offensive line play, the Coyotes controlled the tempo, kept Denison’s defense guessing, and extended their lead to 28–10 by halftime.

Kicker Desmar Marroquin remained flawless, converting all six extra-point attempts.

Defense Makes the Difference

Anna’s defense, which struggled last week late against Walnut Grove, responded with poise and pressure. Tsutsumi and Young anchored a front seven that consistently collapsed the pocket and forced multiple turnovers. Denison’s offense found little rhythm — managing only one sustained drive in the second half.

The Coyotes’ ability to flip momentum back in their favor was as much about mental toughness as it was execution. After the heartbreak in Prosper, Thursday night proved this team wasn’t broken — just hungry.

Looking Ahead: Playoff Push

The victory solidifies Anna’s hold on third place in district, now behind Walnut Grove (1st) and Melissa (2nd) — both of whom own tiebreakers over the Coyotes. With only three playoff spots available, Anna must close strong.

Fortunately, the schedule favors them: two winnable games remain against Frisco Liberty and Frisco Memorial, who sit seventh and eighth in district, respectively.

If Anna finishes strong, they’ll punch their postseason ticket and enter the playoffs with momentum — and maybe a chip on their shoulder.
