The company estimates repairs will take approximately three hours. The outage, which is affecting customers in Anna and Melissa, was caused by a fiber line cut during construction along Highway 75 in Van Alstyne.

Crews have located the damaged fiber and are currently assessing the damage, according to the company.
A fiber cut happens when a fiber-optic cable carrying internet service is damaged or severed, often during construction. Because one cable can serve many customers, a single cut can cause a widespread outage. Crews must locate and repair the damaged fiber before service can be restored.
Anna, Texas — Grayson Collin Communications is reporting a major internet outage affecting customers across Anna and Melissa Thursday afternoon.
According to the company’s status page, Grayson Collin was investigating an outage affecting all customers in Anna and Melissa as of 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.
“We are aware of an outage affecting all customers in Anna and Melissa,” the company said. “Crews are investigating this outage now.”
Grayson Collin currently lists its internet services as experiencing a “Major Outage.” Phone voice services and network services are listed as operational.
The company has not provided an estimated time for restoration.
