Frisco, TX — Sophomore running back Chasyn Elder found the end zone five times Thursday night as Anna overwhelmed Frisco Memorial 49–7, moving the Coyotes to 7–0 with another dominant conference victory.

Elder, wearing No. 44, accounted for Anna’s first three touchdowns and added two more after halftime, finishing with four rushing scores and one receiving touchdown. He scored from 4, 37, 6, 14 and 30 yards out as Memorial struggled to contain the sophomore throughout the night.

Anna’s defense was just as imposing. The Coyotes intercepted three passes and did not allow a single offensive touchdown, keeping Memorial scoreless through the first three quarters.

By the time the Warriors finally reached the scoreboard, Anna had built a 42-point lead.

Elder Takes Over Early

Anna received the opening kickoff and immediately marched from its own 15-yard line into Memorial territory. Elder finished the drive with a four-yard rushing touchdown, and Desmar Marroquin’s extra point gave the Coyotes a 7–0 lead.

After the Anna defense forced a three-and-out and punt, the Coyotes took over near midfield. Elder struck again, breaking loose for a 37-yard touchdown on third down to double the advantage.

Memorial’s next possession ended on downs, giving Anna the ball at the Warriors’ 34-yard line. The Coyotes again capitalized on the short field.

Quarterback Zephyr Kreye found Elder for a six-yard touchdown, giving the sophomore his third score of the opening quarter and sending Anna into the second with a 21–0 lead.

Elder had accounted for all three touchdowns.

Defense Keeps Memorial Scoreless

Memorial put together one of its better drives early in the second quarter, crossing midfield before Anna sophomore La’Mere Oliver intercepted a pass and returned possession to the Coyotes at the Memorial 42.

Anna drove inside the red zone following the takeaway but missed a field goal. The Coyotes later reached the Memorial 7 on another possession before ultimately turning the ball over on downs.

Despite the missed opportunities, Memorial could not take advantage.

The Warriors punted on each of their next two possessions, and Anna got one final opportunity before halftime after taking over at the Memorial 45.

The Coyotes drove to the 1-yard line, where Kreye kept the ball himself and crossed the goal line with less than a minute remaining. Marroquin’s fourth extra point sent Anna into halftime with a 28–0 advantage.

Elder Adds Two More

Memorial received the second-half kickoff looking for its first points of the night.

Instead, Anna immediately took the football away.

The Coyotes intercepted Memorial on the opening possession of the third quarter and took over at the Warriors’ 34. Anna moved inside the 20 before Elder scored on a 14-yard run, giving him his fourth touchdown of the game.

Memorial went three-and-out on its next possession, and Anna responded with another lengthy drive.

Starting at its own 25, the Coyotes moved 75 yards downfield before Elder broke free for a 30-yard touchdown.

His fifth trip to the end zone made it 42–0.

Anna’s defense continued to frustrate Memorial later in the quarter. With the Warriors in Anna territory, junior defensive back Succes Essien intercepted a pass and returned possession to the Coyotes.

Anna carried a 42–0 lead into the fourth quarter, having kept Memorial off the scoreboard for the game’s first three periods.

Memorial Breaks Through, Anna Responds

Memorial finally scored on the opening play of the fourth quarter, but the Warriors still could not find the end zone offensively.

Carter McCloud intercepted an Anna pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown. AJ Warren converted the extra point, cutting Anna’s advantage to 42–7.

The Coyotes answered immediately.

Anna began its next possession at the Memorial 36 and moved inside the red zone. Sophomore running back King Peoples finished the drive with a four-yard rushing touchdown, and Marroquin’s seventh successful extra point restored the 42-point margin at 49–7.

Memorial mounted one final threat, advancing to the Anna 19 before the Coyote defense forced a turnover on downs.

Anna took over with roughly five minutes remaining and closed out the victory.

Five Touchdowns for No. 44

Elder’s performance headlined a night in which Anna controlled the game on both sides of the football.

The sophomore running back scored five of Anna’s seven touchdowns, with four coming on the ground and another through the air. Kreye accounted for two touchdowns — one passing and one rushing — while Peoples added Anna’s final score.

Marroquin finished a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points, continuing his perfect season.

Defensively, the Coyotes intercepted Memorial three times and did not surrender an offensive touchdown. The Warriors’ only seven points came on McCloud’s fourth-quarter interception return.

Anna led 21–0 after the first quarter, 28–0 at halftime and 42–0 after three quarters before finishing off the 49–7 victory.
